Hi there, happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! The weekend sure did fly by quickly. We spent over an hour at my eye appointment on Saturday. I ended up picking out two pairs of glasses. I’m a bit nervous about picking them up in a week or so but it’ll be nice to get a break from contacts when I feel like it. It was pretty cold here so pretty much all we did was curl up on {Read More}

Video is up and Wednesday’s chest workout is finished – complete with “Beast faces“! Today is Day 34 of Body Beast and on the schedule was Bulk: Chest. I also did 25 minutes of steady cardio on the treadmill. I did a run/walk for almost 2 miles and set the incline at 10% (the max ours goes). I have Legs scheduled for tomorrow but I won’t be doing it since I have Rugged Maniac on Saturday. It’ll be no fun {Read More}

My 21-Day Self-Challenge: Already In Progress

This post is inspired by a recent blog post I read by Bry Jensen over at Embrace Fire titled “21 Days to Habit!” (I used to have this linked, but the link is broken and now I can’t find her article – apologies Bry!). She recently wrote a post about studies that have shown that it takes about 21 days before something becomes a habit. This got me thinking. I think everyone has something that they struggle with physically. Whether it’s {Read More}

4/22: Earth Day Leg Workout and Steady Cardio

Happy Earth Day! I’ve been having some lower back pain the last couple of days. I’m guessing it’s from the back workout I did on Tuesday. It was really bad yesterday and I thought I was okay to workout today until I started doing squats. For this reason, I didn’t even finish up my last set and I decided to skip deadlifts altogether. I was actually so frustrated with my squats that I didn’t even write down how many reps {Read More}

3/23: Arm Workout and Cardio

Today was arm workout day and since I didn’t do any cardio yesterday like I said I was going to, I did some cardio afterwards as well. I did the same arm workout I did last week. The workout involves doing a warm up set or two, then doing just 1 straight set until failure but with no more than 10 repetitions. So basically the weight needs to be heavy enough so that I can’t lift it any more than {Read More}

2/4 Workout: Chest, Triceps & Cardio

Today was chest & triceps day followed with steady state cardio. I always get excited about chest day. I like the bench press – it’s always been one of my favorite exercises. I decided to up the weight 5 pounds this week and was still able to perform 5 reps. That’s right in the 4 to 6 rep range that I want to be at for this particular exercise. After working out, I rewarded myself with a slice and a {Read More}

1/5 Workout: Steady State Cardio

I actually did this workout yesterday, but then forgot to post it. Yesterday was the very first time I have ever attempted to do a cardio workout first thing in the morning. My husband was working and my mother-in-law was watching our little people (the kids<3) for us during the day so I tried to get as much done as possible. Wow. Running in the morning was very difficult for me. I wanted it to end before I reached the {Read More}

As 2009 comes to a close, I wanted to create a “best of” post for this blog. I haven’t done it before and I think it’s a great way to summarize the year and what’s happened here at Melinda’s Fitness Blog. Here is a top 10 list I created in no particular order: My Top 10 Workout Songs – Music is what can make or break a workout. I created this list of my top 10 workout songs because these {Read More}

Wow. I’m so sorry this workout post is kind of late. I got a message from a reader today saying that they were unable to leave comments. Well that can’t happen right now because that’s how you enter to win the EatSmart Digital Bathroom Scale giveaway! Needless to say, I was agonizing over this problem because I had no idea how to fix it and comments need to work so entries can be made! What I ended up doing was {Read More}

5/14 Workout: Cardio

After having a rest day, I was really ready for a great workout today and I didn’t get one. My kids were being monsters. All I got in was a 10-minute cardio session. I was doing my 5-minute warmup and the kids started acting up so I just kept going on the treadmill for as long as they’d let me. Just about 10 minutes.
