Obese Teens More Intense with Risky Behavior. A recent study conducted by Cinncinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center found that obese teens engaging in risky behavior are actually doing so at a higher intensity level. Researchers were suprised by the results because they assumed that the opposite would be true given the stigma and social isolation attached to those who are obese. Diet Can Reverse Kidney Failure. This is just another example that goes to show it’s never too late to make improvements to your diet in order to improve your health. A “ketogenic diet” could very well reverse kidney failure. The high fat diet was tested on mice with diabetes who had already started suffering kidney damage and after 8 weeks the damage to their kidneys began to reverse.

Children Aren’t Getting Enough Exercise. I’m sure this isn’t news to anybody but it’s very important to make sure people realize that it’s very serious. A recent survey done by the YMCA found that an estimated 58% of children played outside less than 4 days per week. Instead, parents are putting their children in front of computers, televisions and video game systems because it’s more “convenient”. Won’t be convenient when you’re watching your child struggle with their weight though!

Elderly Man Survives 2 Wars, Cancer, Boston Marathon. An 81-year-old man was the oldest participant in the Boston Marathon this year and he has survived 2 wars, cancer AND the Boston Marathon itself. If this story doesn’t inspire you, I don’t know what will!
